Game Mechanics

1: Mechanics (General)

1.0: The players move around with the joystick on their right controller, which they point in a direction to walk in that direction. The players need not face the direction they’re walking. The players’ upper triggers will be used to point, for the purpose of pushing buttons, while their lower triggers will be used to grab carryable items.

1.1: The players’ surroundings will change based on how many players are present at any time, sometimes purely visually, sometimes with meaningful effects on players’ progression.

1.2: In the world there will be workbenches. Many workbenches are cosmetic in nature, although still technically work, as they’re an object that will be referred to in more detail in section 3.3.

1.3: The players, as they explore, will find attachments throughout the world. These attachments can be attached to a player at a workbench. A player cannot have more than one attachment, and attachments, most likely, cannot be removed, a fact that is compensated for by the fact that there are only two attachments in the world, as there are only three players.

1.4: Buttons the players do not need to move around or interact with the world (most likely one of the joysticks, the B and A buttons, but probably none of the triggers.) will be used to make noises by the players.

1.5: Players can hear music, this music overlaps when near each other to create a more complete song. This is also implied to be what makes the area change.

Music Design

All music for this game was originally composed. Each player has an individual instrument playing. They will be able to hear other player’s sounds when they’re nearby. The objective is for all players to be together to complete the song. All songs were done in Ableton Live.

Each player also has an individual sound that they can trigger by pressing a button in the controller.

Initially, the game was longer and it required different songs that were not included in the game. The following song was intended to set the mood at the beginning:

The following song was intended to finalize the game:
